Sivaji and Chalasani Srinivas are undoubtedly front runners for the fight on Special Category Status for AP. They have always questioned political leaders for not fighting strongly against center for special category status. Both of them have several times asked Pawan specifically to speak for Special Category Status. However, when Pawan gave statement that he is ready to go on hunger strike for SCS, they chose not respond even after 24 hours. What is the reason for that? Do they have a personal agenda?These are the questions being discussed in Social media now.
Chalasani Srinivas, has been heading “Pratyeka Hoda Sadhana Samithi (Committee to achieve special category status)” for quite some time. He was referred as Pratyeka Hoda Sadhana Samithi convenor in 2015 and 2016 in media as well as by themselves. However, if someone observed CAREFULLY, in 2017, when his statements are covered in media, media called him “Vibhajana Hakkula Sadhana Samithi Convener” instead of “Pratyeka Hoda Sadhana Samithi” convener. But, whatever be the name, they were the two people along with some other intellectuals who voiced on SCS for AP. Both of them sometimes criticized AP government and ruling TDP also for not taking SCS issue seriously.
However, there has also been some criticism on both of them (Chalasani and Sivaji) , especially from YSRCP fans in social media, that they never supported Jagan even when Jagan did some “dharna” or meetings regarding Special Category Status. They never went to the place Jagan is doing agitation to extend their support – this is the allegation of YSRCP fans and their cadre. To be frank, expectation from such intellectual forum is that, they should not focus on daily politics of political parties and support whoever doing any sort of fight for SCS.
Now the similar question is being raised by Janasena fans too. In fact Sivaji and Chalasani, on many occasions questioned silence of Pawan and asked him not to keep mum on the issue and fight for SCS. However, when Pawan gave statement that he is willing to fast unto death for SCS, neither Sivaji nor Chalasani welcomed the decision. They didn’t even responded on Pawan’s statements. Janasena fans in their social groups are discussing why these two intellectuals are not responding and they even doubting the intentions of these two people that – “Will they support only those decisions or persons that bring some sort of mileage to TDP” OR “Are these guys not supporting Pawan because he moved away from TDP”.
Whatever be the reason, this casts doubt on Sivaji, Chalasani and their forum . Because of this kind of inconsistent behaviour from these intellectuals they are not able to build massive movements in the state as people still have an iota of doubt that these forums also have an agenda. Expectation from such intellectual forums is to support anyone fighting for SCS and let politics take second place. In Pawan’s case also, they should have immediately welcomed the decision. By doing so this forum would have definitely proved people that they are above political games and their sole aim is achieving SCS. Moreover, after welcoming Pawan’s decision, they should have asked him to start the fight immediately or as soon as possible saying justice delayed is justice denied. This could have put Pawan also in soup as he did not yet announced the dates.
It is understandable if political parties are doing politics and craving for political mileage. But intellectual forums and neutral forums like this also behaving the same way and making people doubt these forums also supporting ruling parties only – will discourage people from participating in people movements or doing any sacrifices for the sake of society!!!
