Andhra Pradesh government and Microsoft on Monday signed an MoU meant to improve services in the sectors of Agriculture and Civil Supplies. This was preceded by a 80-minute meeting between chief minister Chandrababu Naid and Mircrosoft CEO Satya Nadella in Hyderabad over breakfast. Microsoft agreed to set up a centre for data analytics and policy planning at Vizag.
Microsoft India will support building of up to three proof-of-concept (POC) solutions to apply Microsoft Azure Machine Learning and Advanced Visualization in the fields of education, agriculture and eCitizen services. These POC solutions will be built and deployed to address specific problems within each of the fields to achieve better outcomes for the state. It would use the lab method for data gathering, analysis, predictive analysis and policy planning.
In his interaction with the CM, Nadella expressed his wish to pay a visit to his home district Anatapur in his next round of visit to India. He said the software giant would help Andhra Pradesh in cloud data technology.

*For agriculture, the technology will provide reports on the kind of crops that needs to be cultivated based on the soil type, monitor rainfall and contribute for sustained agricultural growth.
*In August of this year, as part of the Badi Pilustondi (The School is Calling) initiative launched by the Chief Minister, the government and Microsoft had announced a Cloud-based Machine Learning solution in the field of education using Microsoft Azure Machine Learning Tools and Power BI. The project was implemented on pilot in Chittoor district. The government now plans to expand the project to other districts of the State.
