Andhra Pradesh government wrapped up its liquor shop license allocation process.
In a progressive move, 10% of the liquor shops have been allotted to women entrepreneurs. This step towards gender equality in business has been widely appreciated. Out of 3,396 shops, 345 are now proudly owned by women. It’s good to see more women stepping into this traditionally male-dominated sector!
Some shops were incredibly popular ,Vatsavai, NTR district, received a whopping 132 applications. Some from neighboring Telangana managed to secure licenses in Andhra Pradesh.
Even local political figures tried their luck. The BJP president of Anantapur district bagged five shops in Dharmavaram constituency. A news channel’s management reportedly applied for 350 shops across the state.
A differently-abled person in Pedabayalu won a shop license. In YSR district, women turned up in large numbers to participate. Minister Narayana sponsored 100 applications for party workers, resulting in three successful allocations. There are Winners came from Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and even Odisha. Two shops in Vijayawada went to applicants from Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
The AP government has given the necessary approvals for the new shop owners to start their shops from October 16th.
