While mining baron and former Minister Gali Janardhan Reddy’s daughter marriage stirred up the hornet’s nest after Modi initiated demonetisation drive in the country, now it is the turn of another leader who spent money in similar fashion.
Karnataka Small Industries Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi set up a two-acre wide mandap, resembling Kolhapur Mahalakshmi temple, and performed his son Santosh’s marriage at Gokak town in Belgavi district in Karnataka.
The entire town was decorated as the sugarbaron-turned-politician hosted more than 1.5 guests at the mega-fat wedding in the air-conditioned mandap, reported Deccan Chronicle. Although several Congress leaders and cabinet colleagues attended the wedding, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, however, skipped it.
Now, will this fat wedding come under the IT scanner?, is the question. the Income Tax sleuths are already pounced on Gali Janardhan Reddy and raiding his assets, multi-media service providers and event management firms.
The IT teams are stating that a whopping Rs 500 crore was spent on Gali’s daughter Brahmani’s marriage with Hyderabad-based industrialist Rajiv Reddy. The officials are suspecting that Gali offered gold to the event management companies and other workers instead of giving cash.
