Amid many dramatic event in the Assembly premises YSRC MLA RK Roja was disallowed into the Assembly. The Assembly of Andhra Pradesh doesn’t want to honor the stay order issued by Justice Ramalingeswar Rao of Hyderabad High Court. Even though there was official statement from the Assembly on not allowing Roja into Assembly, the event reopened the yet unsettled issue of judiciary versus legislativ areas of operation under the constitution provision of Constitution of India.
Armed with High Court order staying her suspension for a year by Andhra Pradesh Assembly, Roja entered the Assembly premises in the convoy of opposition leader and YSRC president YS Jaganmohan Reddy through gate number 2 of the Assemly. But, she was stopped by the marshals of Assembly, who stated the they had no instructions from the speaker to allow her into the Assembly. Jagan and other YSRC MLAs argued with the marshals that Roja had court orders to enter the House and a copy of the court stay order had already been submitted to the secretary of the Assembly. They YSRC members asked the Marshals to show written orders to disallow her into the Assembly. The chief Marshal said they had been instructed orally by the Assembly authorities. As MLAs and marshals altercation went on, session of the Assembly started on the other side.
As some tension was expected, security blanket had been thrown in around the Assembly premises. YSRC also mobilized all the MLAs to receive their colleague Roja, who won her case against the suspension decision of the Assembly to suspend her for a year.
As the marshals did not allow Roja to enter the Assembly, all the MLAs staged sit-in right in front of Assembly boycotting the session. Late thy moved nearer to the Gandhi Statue to continue their protest. Opposition leader Jagan also was seen arguing with marshals that he wants to take Roja to her office and he would send a pass to the effect. YSRC deplored that Assembly was dishonoring the orders High Court of the state. However, the reported Telugu Desam party’s stand was that High Court had no jurisdiction to interfere in the affairs of legislature which had sovereign jurisdiction.
Protesting against disallowing of Roja into Assembly, YSRCP MLCs walked out of the Legislative Council.
TDP MLA Anita, on other hand, disapproved of the action of opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy and his MLAs. Finding fault with staging of dharna in Assembly premises, Anita said the opposition party should give time to the speaker to take a decision on the High Court order.YSRC is planning to march to Raj Bhavan to lodge a complaint against the speaker’s attitude towards Roja even after the High Court stayed her suspension.
