The AP Assembly winter session will begin on Monday. The ruling YCP has got its MLAs strength increased by one more MLA. So, its effective number will be up from 151 to 152. The TDP tally has come down from 23 to 22. Till now, CM Jaganmohan Reddy has totally dominated and almost intimidated Opposition members on the floor of the Assembly. Jagan has even acted aggressively making angry gestures to silence Chandrababu Naidu several times. But after six months in power, Jagan Reddy is going to face the Assembly discussions on his performance so far. Issues like sand shortage, constructions workers’ suicides, RTC fare hike may embarrass the ruling party.
The question is whether Jagan Reddy will give a chance to Opposition to talk freely on the burning issues. Jagan has got brute majority. Because of this, the voice of Naidu and his few MLAs is being silenced mercilessly. Some YCP Ministers and MLAs like Kodali Nani, Anil Kumar Yadav and Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy are evening using unparliamentary language. The TDP’s only hope is its strength in Legislative Council. The opposition party is expecting to make some noise in the council on issues like sand crisis, RTC fares, etc.
