The budget session of Andhra Pradesh is going to commence this afternoon on a stormy note, with the opposition YSR Congress gearing up to corner the ruling Telugu Desam party on the ‘insider trading’ in the Amaravti capital region land purchases as well Kapu quota issue.
Given the aggressive stance of YSR Congress and equally strong defense being put up by the ruling Telugu Desam party, one can visualize easily what is in store. Uproarious scenes, fierce charges and counter charges, dharnas in the well, slogan shouting, pushing and shoving and a possible suspension of Opposition are likely to convert the session into a summer session with regular heat waves.
The budget session, will commence with the governor’s address to joint session of Assembly and Council at 3 pm Saturday. Apart from the land purchases,Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham’s fast, poor allocations to AP in union budget, lack central budgetary support to Polavaram, lack of job recruitment in Andhra Pradesh by the AP public service commission are expected to rock the Assembly and Council during the 18-day-long budget session.
The opposition will also demand the resignation of social welfare minister Ravela Koshore Babu for his son’s misbehavior with Muslim teacher in Hyderabad. The incident that happened in Banjara Hills area of Hyderabad created sensation in the state.
The opposition wants to highlight the unfulfilled promises given to Kapus during the debate in view of the Mudragada Padmanabham’s ultimatum to implement all the promises Naidu made to Kapu before March 10. The Kapu leader threatened to undertake fast unto death from March 11, if the state government were to delay the implementation.
Above all the opposition party is planning the table no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Naidu’s government, and Assembly speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao.
On the part of ruling TDP, chief minister Chandrababu Naidu is said to have instructed all its vocal members to be ready to counter the opposition onslaught. Naidu had already said there was nothing wrong in the buying of lands in capital region with one’s own money. It clearly imparted strength to the MPs, ministers and MLAs involved in the purchases of farm lands from farmers and assigned lands from the dalits.
In an unusual way Governor ESL Narasimhan is addressing the joint session of the Council and Assembly at 3 PM on Saturday, contrary to the convention of addressing the first session of the year at 11 AM.
The YSR party is all set to launch its assault from the very first day itself.
Fireworks can be expected even during governor’s address also.
“We have resolved to move a no-confidence motion against the TDP government for its failures in the past 22 months and various scams that surfaced during the period. The party will also a notice to the Chair to disqualify the defected MLAs. We will move the no-trust motion after the Governor’s address” opposition MLAs Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy and Visweswar Reddy told telugu360.com on Saturday morning.
