On returning to Vijayawada from US tour, AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu immediately left for Paderu town in Visakhapatnam agency area and called on the family members of late MLA Kidari Sarveswara Rao, who was killed by Maoists near Dumbriguda mandal headquarters recently.
He conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family members and garlanded photos of the deceased MLA at their residence. Mr. Naidu announced Group-I job for the younger son of the MLA while the party would decide at a later time whether to allot MLA ticket and how to support the elder son. There were reports that MLA’s elder son Sravan would be given TDP ticket to contest from Araku in next elections.
The CM said that Sarveswara Rao had got a lot of goodwill because of his active involvement in tribals’ service activities in the agency and it was very rare that such a dynamic leader could emerge from the tribals’ community. He deplored that the TDP had cancelled the bauxite mining leases granted by the earlier YSR government but misinformation campaign was going on and now the MLA killing incident happened.
Mr. Naidu also announced Rs. 1 crore compensation to the deceased MLA’s family and also Rs. 5 lakh each to the four members of the family from TDP party welfare funds. A house site would be allotted in Vizag city and all financial support would be extended to help the family to build a house there.
Later, speaking to media, MLA’s elder son Sravan said that their family would like to continue the good work that was done by his father in public service and that they would abide by the decision of the Chief Minister with regard to contesting the next elections.
