Andhra Pradesh Congress urged the state SC ST commission to book cases against chief minister Chandrababu Naidu for his insulting comments against the dalits.
The party presented a memorandum to the secretary of the commission to this extent on Thursday. A delegation consisting of former minister S Sailajanath, APCC SC Cell chairman Korivi Vijayakumar, general secretaries Janga Gowtham and TJR Sudhakar Babu met SC ST commission secretary and requested him to initiate legal action against Chandrababu Naidu’s comments.
According to Congress leaders, Naidu’s comment that no one should wish to born into the family of a dalit, was insulting and hurt the sentiments of dalits across the state.
Later they informed the media that on Friday, SC organizations across the state would organize protest programs against Chandrababu Naidu’s remarks. They will organize rallies and dharnas near Ambedkar statues in all mandal and district headquarters. Meanwhile noted dalit scholar and activist Katti Padmarao expressed strong disapproval of Naidu’s alleged statement. Padmarao said he was proud to have born into the family of dalits. He challenged Naidu for a open debate on the castes which exploited state resources more in Andhra Pradesh. Daring Naidu to agree for the debate, he said he would give a reward of Rs 100 crore to Naidu if he wins in the debate or he should step down as CM if lost.
