In an effort to make its relevance felt in the state politics, The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has decided to mobilise as many as two crore people all over the state, by conducting people’s ballet in all constituencies’ headquarters from March 5 to 30.
It may be recalled that the APCC is struggling hard to get foot hold in the almost bi-polarised state politics between TDP and YSRCP, started exercising on how to keep up its identity among people.
At a time when both the ruling and opposition parties are locked in making mutual accusations raising issues like special category status, corruption and harsh treatment towards MLA R K Roja, the APCC is moving fast to go to people taking up their concerns.
APCC President N Raghuveera Reddy held a day-long consultations with District and City Congress Committees Presidents and chalked out a detailed action programme, till March-end. Immediately, it has decided to fight on issues of drought and drinking water problems in the state.
Reddy accused that the State government was negligent in taking measures to mitigate the prevailing severe drought conditions and drinking water problems in the State. He wanted DCC presidents and city Congress presidents to present memorandums to district collectors across the State demanding relief measures on February 25 over the issues.
He also said that meetings would be conducted to expose people’s resentment on demonetisation scheme and other failures of Union and State government from February 26 to March 1 in all district headquarters and from March 5 to 15 in all constituencies’ headquarters and later people’s ballets will be conducted.
Raghuveera wanted party leader to strive for the success of party candidates in the MLC elections and prepare for the local body elections too. He demanded action against the accused in a minor girl rape case in the Amaravati area and alleged that Telugu Desam Party leaders were trying to protect the accused.
