The Andhra Pradesh Government is getting ready to host a three-day National Women Parliamentarians’ Conference begins from February 10, in which more than a thousand parliamentarians, assembly members, women industrialists, women entrepreneurs and other prominent women are expected to participate.
The three-day conference would be held at Pavitrasangham (confluence of Krishna-Godavari Rivers) at Ibrahimpatnam near Vijayawada. The state government is organising the event jointly with the Maharashtra Institute of Engineering (MIU).
This will be the first major national conference being held in the Amaravati capital region, after bifurcation of the state. About 400 women members of parliament and state assemblies are expected to take part in the first ever such session to be held in the state.
The Conference will focus on `women empowerment’ and delegates from countries like Africa, USA, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, besides from all over the country will participate. Though both President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were invited for the conference, till they have to confirm their participation.
According to AP Assembly speaker Dr Kodela Sivaprasada Rao, who is spearheading arrangements for the conference, there will be a discussions on encouragement to women and strengthening the democracy on all the three days under different aspects. He said that the participants would discuss women empowerment and political challenges on the first day, personality development and vision for future on the second day and a run for women empowerment on third day would be taken up.
