The separate High Court for Andhra Pradesh will start functioning in Amaravati capital city area from January 1. In the first 20 days, the court will function from CM Office. Later, it will be shifted to the temporary accommodation. CM Chandrababu Naidu has given green signal for this.
Once the permanent buildings are ready in the Justice City in Capital City area, the HC will be finally shifted there. After that, the temporary accommodation will be used for the District Courts complex. These decisions are taken by the AP government in view of the sudden gazette notification issued by the Union Law Ministry for the functioning of separate High Courts for AP and Telangana as per schedule.Meanwhile, the AP advocates launched a protest at the United AP and Telangana High Court in Hyderabad saying the sudden shifting of AP HC would cause problems for them. They said no basic amenities are available for them to stay in the Amaravati capital city area. They demanded that the United HC Registry postpone the date of actual shifting of the AP HC till necessary facilities are made available for the public.
The advocates have also said the division of files and the staff concerned has not been completed as of now. This will make it difficult for the two courts to function effectively if the separation orders are implemented with immediate effect.
