Probably Andhra Pradesh is making headway in the entire country towards cashless economy and Chief Minister Chadnrababu Naidu today said all people should secure mobile phones to take advantage of cashless transactions. Stating that about 88 to 90 per cent of people in the state are having mobiles, he said for the remaining people he would provide mobiles on subsidy or even at free of cost.
Naidu has formulated an action plan to ensure 100 per cent cashless transactions naming it as `Purse Wallet’. While 13 wallet companies came forward for mobile currency, 13 wallets will be available in `AP Purse’ through phone. He said people may use net or mobile to make use for cashless payments.
Naidu constituted four committees to persuade cashless transactions. A committee comprising the Reserve Bank (RBI), State Bank of India (SBI), Andhra Bank and the Finance Secretary would prepare a roadmap on rationalisation of the service charges levied in mobile banking.
Another committee comprising representatives of KL University, APSRTC, Labour, SBI, Andhra Bank would monitor the training programmes on mobile and online banking. A seven-member team would monitor the installation of e-PoS machines. And, the fourth would monitor seeding of Jan Dhan and Aadhaar to encourage mobile banking. The government will facilitate to open Jan Dhan accounts, by all those who are now having such accounts now. All of them will be distributed RuPay cards.
He said that about 70,000 e-PoS machines would be procured in the state and efforts would be made to provide them at each shop. He has directed the officials to supply 5,000 e-PoS machines to the APSRTC. He also wanted officials to supply 1,000 e-PoS machines to hotels, 5,000 machines to grocery stores, commercial establishments, Mee Seva centres, Rythu Bazaars, market yards, etc.
