The counting process for the three MLC (Member of Legislative Council) seats in Andhra Pradesh has begun, drawing widespread attention across the state. Elections were held on February 27 for two graduate seats in the combined Krishna-Guntur and Godavari districts, along with a teachers’ constituency in North Andhra. Officials expect the counting to take two to three days, with results eagerly awaited.
At the counting centers, a three-tier security system has been put in place to ensure a smooth and fair process. In the Krishna-Guntur graduate constituency, counting is taking place at AC College, where 28 tables have been set up. A total of 2,45,502 votes were cast out of 3,47,116 registered voters, with a polling percentage of 69.57. The main contest is between coalition candidate Alapati Raja and independent candidate KS Lakshmanarao, supported by the PDF party.
In the Godavari districts, counting for the graduates’ seat is being held at CR Reddy Engineering College in Eluru. Here, 28 tables have been arranged for 17 rounds of counting. The race is primarily between coalition candidate Perabattula Rajasekharam and PDF-backed DV Raghavulu. Meanwhile, votes for the North Andhra teachers’ constituency are being counted at Andhra University Engineering College. A high voter turnout of 92.40% was recorded, with 20,783 teachers exercising their franchise.
