The state government had issued orders authorising the police to attach the properties of the accused in the fibernet case. The Union Home Ministry too had given clearance for the same on the application of the APCID.
The police had issued a notification to attach two house sites of accused Kanumuri Koteswara Rao in Guntur and Visakhapatnam. It had also authorised the police to attach the house sites of another accused Thummala Gopi Chand at Jubilee Hills, two sites in Srinagar Colony, one at Yousufguda in Hyderabad.
The government also authorised the police to attach the agricultural land of Gopi Chand’s wife Pavanadevi in Ranga Reddy district.
The CID officials are now getting ready to file a petition in the ACB court in Vijayawada seeking permission to attach these properties.
It was alleged that the previous government headed by Chandrababu Naidu had assigned the fibernet project to Tera Soft company headed by Gopi Chand. Though the company was in blacklist, the government lifted the ban and gave the assignment.
The company was given Rs 330 crore worth of works in the project. However, it was alleged that the company had embezzled Rs 144.53 crore in the project.
Vemuri Hari Krishna was given the task of assigning the work to the Tera Soft company to favour its chief Gopi Chand, the CID alleged.
It is now to be seen what the ACB Court would direct the police. Whether it would give permission to the police to attach the properties or deny is to be seen.
