Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to collaborate to improve and transform the health care outcomes in the State by strengthening Primary and Secondary health care.
The MoU aims at achieving this objective by reducing of pocket expenditure and there by developing a well performing health system in the state which can be a model for the rest of the country. Government of Andhra Pradesh is committed in providing universal health cover to its citizens by strengthening health systems by taking innovative models like NTR Vidyaseva etc. The foundation is a grant making organization committed to accelerate the development of life saving advances in health, nutrition, financial inclusion and agriculture to reduce the burden of disease in developing countries in furtherance of its mission to ensure that all lives have equal value.
The Foundation is interested in Bring global expertise to bear at the design of the social insurance model of the state, supporting the design of an innovative, integrated care model pilot building on NTR Vidyaseva, leveraging technology for health and nutrition services consistent with the e-pragathi framework with a vision of integrating health and nutrition, IT and communication technologies (ICT) in AP. In addition to the project activities the Government of AP and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation have agreed to explore new collaborative efforts in furtherance of the objectives.
