Andhra Pradesh Assembly speaker Dr Kodela Sivaprasadarao today appointed a committee to look into the cirumstances that led to the suspension of YSR Congress Party MLA Roja for one year and all other issues associated with her suspension including leakage of footage of assembly proceeding to social media network.
Roja, had been suspended during the recently concluded Winter Session of the Assembly for using abusive language against chief minister Chandrababu Naidu and TDP MLA Anita. The incident led to commotion and derailed the proceedings of the House.
The suspension provoked the Opposition party to serve a no-confidence motion against the speaker Rao, who, they alleged had gone beyond the provisions of the conduct rules of Assembly. The Opposition party also alleged that the footage of Assembly proceedings, which was not telecast found its way from the speaker’s office. It also alleged that the selective clippings leaked to media only to malign the opposition party.
Reacting on the Notice Speaker said he had done nothing wrong and had gone by the will of the House. He said that he would appoint a committee legality of the suspension of Roja and leakage of footage etc.
The Committee will be headed by deputy speaker Mandali Buddha Prasad and TDP MLA Sravan Kumar, BJP MLA Vishnu Kumar Raju and YSRCP MLA Sreekanth Reddy will be members.
The committee will look into the conduct of the member in question during the Assembly winter session. The first meeting of the committee will most probably on January 5 and 6 and the final report will be submitted within 20 days of the first meeting.
