Two Telugu states- Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are likely to get separate governors by the end of this month. Even after bifurcation, the united Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan is continuing as Governor of both the states. The Centre makes this arrangement with an view that a common Governor will be helpful in resolving administrative hardships between two states amicably, make use of his rapport with both the Chief Ministers.
However, as most of contentious issues between two states were almost resolved and a mechanism has been evolved at the Centre to tackle disputes to come up from time to time between these two states. So, presently Prime Minister Narenra Modi is reportedly is of the new there is no need to continue the practice of common Governor for both the states.
Prime Minister is said to be unhappy with frequent complaints from Andhra Pradesh accusing him as `biased’ towards Telangana, while opposition parties in Telangana blaming him of acting as `TRS Brand Ambassador’. Even BJP leaders also complained against him in the beginning.
Anyhow, Narasimhan’s term will be completed by January 26. Already Union Home Ministry has reportedly prepared a list of probable names to appoint as Governors. The Centre is also has initiated process to appoint Governors for few more states, including Tamil Nadu.
According to indications, senior BJP leaders from other states are likely to be appointed as Governors for these two states. The new Governor for Andhra Pradesh is mostly likely to be stationed in Vijayawada.
