Andhra Pradesh Congress today launched a unique Satyagraha program in which thousands of soil samples from the state would dispatched to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, protesting lack of response from the centre on their demand of special category state status to Andhra Pradesh.
This is in response to the Prime Minister’s offering of Parliament soil and water to the capital Amaravati construction. As the PM modi attached great importance to the soil, the Congress is also sending same soil from Andhra Pradesh to remind him how he backed out on the promises he made to people of Andhra Pradesh from the temple town Tirupati. The promises include special category status to Andhra Pradesh.
Announcing the Matti Satyagraham, PCC president N Raghuvira Reddy the first batch of soil parcels would be dispatched today, which are collected from two villages from Anantapur district.”Two woman sarpanchs from two villages are my inspiration,” Raghuvira announced.
“Hanumakka Sarpanch of Gangualavayi Palyam and Govindapuram sarpanch Lakshmidevamma Hanumakka collected the samples of soil from the their villages to send across to PM. The presented the soil to and requested me to sent them PM along with a letter, they wrote to the PM.Both will be sent will be sent to PM Modi by courier today,” he said.
Similar samples would be collected from 16,000 villages, 3,000 wards in municipal areas and pilgrim centres. ” The PM announced that coming BJP would give the special category status to Andhra from Tirupati. So we have decided to send soil from Tirupati along all other pilgrim centers across the state,” Raghuvira said.
In the same vein, Raghuvira said, there some important personalities conned to these issues and soil samples would be collected from their villages as well to be sent to PM. ” Arrangements have been made to collect the soil from Naravari Palli, native place of Chandrababu Naidu, Chavatavari palli of Venkaiah Naidu, Sujana Chowdary’s village Kanchikacharla, and Vijayanagaram Kota of Ashokagajapati Raju,” he said adding that Congress would continue its fight till the special status was achieved.
Raghuveera Reddy appealed to people to participate in this program irrespective of party affiliations. He requested non-political organisations, literary organisations, cultural organisations and NGOs to participate in ‘Matti Satyagraham’ so that it could fulfil its sense of purpose. He said that all senior leaders would participate in the ‘Matti Satyagraham’. Former Ministers C.Ramachandraiah, Sailajanath, Former MLC Ganga Bhavani, Former MP N.Tulasi Reddy, APCC General Secretary Janga Gowtham participated in the program.
