The overseas rights of NTR starrer Aravinda Sametha, which is being directed by Trivikram Srinivas, have been bagged by the noted US distribution house ‘LA Telugu’ for a handsome price. Telugu360 is bringing the full story behind this marquee deal which was closed last week.
It is well known that LA Telugu went all out to promote Agnyathavaasi in a never before way and ensured a mammoth release all over North America. As the film ended as a huge debacle in all areas, producer Radha Krishna came forward to compensate the losses. He repaid around 20 Crores to distributors of all areas in just one month after the film’s release. But, LA Telugu refused to accept the refund at that time and made a verbal commitment to bag NTR – Trivikram film.
Few days back, several media houses and overseas distribution communities are abuzz with the news that Radha Krishna closed the overseas deal of his three upcoming films( Aravinda Sametha, Shailaja Reddy Alludu and Sharwanand’s film) to a noted distribution house in US ( Skipping ‘ LA Telugu ‘ ). However, the production house has vehemently denied the news.
True that Radha Krishna got good offers for Aravinda Sametha from various noted US distributors. As sentiment didn’t work out with ‘LA Telugu’ for Agnyathavaasi, everyone thought he might go with other distributors this time. But, he kept his promise and decided to give the rights to ‘LA Telugu’.
As per our sources, it is learnt that LA Telugu bagged Aravinda Sametha for 14.4 Crores. 2.7 Crores out of this given as credit to compensate for Agnyathavaasi losses. So, the total price for the overseas rights is 11.7 Crores.
Rest of the world ( Non- USA) rights can fetch around 2.7 Crores and the break even point in US will be around 9 Crores.
Given NTR’s recent form and the fact that Trivikram’s A..Aa grossed nearly $2.5M, it is not a tall order for Aravinda Sametha to break even in overseas.
Keeping aside all the financial part, it is a good gesture by Haarika & Hassine Creations Radha Krishna garu to give the rights to LA Telugu who put their heart and soul for Agnyathavaasi.
