Aravindha Sametha Audio Review
Aravindha Sametha is an upcoming entertainer starring Jr.NTR and Pooja Hegde in lead roles.Music for the film is composed by high voltage composer Thaman.
On the contrary with commercial Telugu albums, this album begins with Yeda Poyinado – a revenge seeking song which has various shades like anger, aggression and also eerie calm. The song has a quintessential folk flavor which is greatly fused with western symphonic strings, trumpets and typical Thaman percussions. Sirivennela Sitaramasastry does a fantastic job in terms of lyrics with accented usage of words. The song slowly builds up tempo as it progresses and also speaks of pain with great passion. Nikhita Srivalli is quite perfect with her bass vocals and complimented with Kailash Kher’s high pitch vocals in the interludes.
Anagananga is a power packed solo by Armaan Malik with amazing drumming and electric guitars. The song has a great rock ballad feel to it with Telugu nativity in terms of classical violin. The song is composed in raga Suddha Dhanyasi but has great modern touches. Sitarama Sastry uses simple terms like “Andaniki Sontha ooru..andukene aa pogaru” to describe the beauty of a female lead. The bass guitar by Aalap Raju deserves special mention for its tantalizing nature. The usage of contrasting sitars for electronic rock fusion is quite impressive.
The album takes a balanced approach with another passionate slow number Penimiti this time penned by Rama Jogayya Sastry. The song has great Rayalaseema flavor to it by using the native words like Kammati Sankati (the famous dish of the region). The song has a hummable feel to it in terms of tune and arrangements. Thaman sticks to his proven formula which strikes well again. Kaala Bhairava’s voice has a great mellowed expression which touches straight to the heart.
The finale gets an inevitable mass touch with Reddy Ikkada Soodu which has the Punjabi Pop singer Daler Mehendi. However, the song has a great resemblance to Daler’s pop number Jalwa which was a smashing hit during the 90s. Anjana Sowmya’s folksy singing adds much to the song. However, the composition is aimed more to be a dance number than an experimental one. The drums are quite well used by Thaman in various tempos and proportions to suit the composition. If a top star movie album has only four songs, music director – director duo has to make sure each song stands out. In that aspect, ‘Reddy ikkada soodu’ song couldn’t meet the expectations
Verdict:
Aravinda Sametha is not a regular commercial album. The songs are content driven with melodies, folk numbers and a tinge of mass element as well. For a mass star NTR fans, it may take sometime to come to reality with this album which could have been better.
Our Picks: Yeda Poyinaado , Anaganaga
