Demolitions in Hyderabad is the hot topic in Telangana politics right now. While Congress leaders and cadres are exploring all avenues to justify demolition of encroachments, Opposition leaders are hitting streets to take on Revanth Reddy Government, sensing an opportunity to bounce back.
CM Revanth Reddy has set up HYDRA with the intention to clear encroachments. True to its intent, HYDRA jumped into action, making news at national level within no time. CM Revanth Reddy has been taking personal care in HYDRA functioning, giving the enforcement agency full power. Inspite of widespread protests, HYDRA is marching on determinedly.
Besides HYDRA, another pet project of CM is Musi Riverfront Development. The project aims to clear encroachments on Musi river and beautify the area, with an intention to develop further to create revenues and livelihoods.
According to a survey done by officials about 10,200 houses need to be demolished for Musi River front development. That’s an unbelievably herculean task, which appears almost impossible. Any misstep can cost Congress Government dearly. But CM Revanth Reddy is determined to go ahead.
Already officials have started visiting areas on Musi river bank and informing home owners that their houses will be demolished. This obviously led to huge uproar, with Government receiving backlash.
Now the big question is, everyone knows that Congress Govt has to face the wrath of people, if they take up demolitions of houses belonging to poor and middle class. Inspite, why is Revanth Reddy Sarkar going on with the demolitions?
The demolitions have also given a new lease of life to BRS, which was struggling after the defeat in Assembly and Loksabha polls. Doesn’t Revanth Reddy, a smart and seasoned politician thought of these consequences?
Politicians being politicians, some feel that demolitions are a diversionary tactic, to divert people from Congress Government’s promises and performance.
It has been close to ten months and Telangana janata have started assessing Congress Goverment’s performance. Except free travel to women through Mahalakshmi scheme, Congress Government has not fulfilled any of its key poll promises.
Though farm loan waiver (Rythu Runa Maafi) has been done, it has not benefited all the farmers. There is no talk of Rythu Bharosa even though two crop seasons have passed. Government is yet to come up with a full fledged plan regarding govt job recruitment, as lakhs of unemployed youth have pinned their hopes on Revanth Reddy-led Congress Government.
Leave about poll promises, even in terms of governance, no new initiatives have been taken up and Congress Government is yet to create a positive image with its performance. But instead of discussing about Congress Government’s promises and performance, now everyone is debating about demolitions. It appears even Opposition BRS and BJP parties have fallen for CM Revanth Reddy’s diversionary tactic.
