The employment creation exercise by Jagan Regime is transforming into a big farce. What more, it is sending shivers among sections of common public as well as rival parties. Especially, Grama and Ward Volunteers in villages and towns are acting like purely political workers under the command of local YCP second-rung leaders. The Opposition parties and observers have started describing the Volunteers as just private armies of the ruling party.
Interestingly, the polling booth level activists of YCP have got themselves or their family members and relatives posted as Volunteers. They are all forming local groups along political lines to share the benefits out of all the massive welfare programmes. There’s talk that the Jagan Reddy government is not having tight grip over monitoring at the ground level. Already, senior level officials and Secretariat staff are maintaining low profiles as the ruling YCP leaders, MLAs and Ministers are not at all taking their advice. Amid this, gears are growing among poor beneficiaries whether local groupism and politics will obstruct their pensions and benefits.
