Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC), recently released “Language wise certified circulation figures for the audit period July-December 2017. As per the latest figures, again, Eenadu ruled the roost. Sakshi stood at 2nd place and Andhra Jyothy is at 3rd place.
The ABC founded in 1948 is a not for profit, voluntary organization consisting of Publishers, Advertisers and Advertising Agencies. It has done pioneering work in developing audit procedures to verify the circulation data published by those newspapers and periodicals which have earned the right to display its emblem. The data from ABC is considered authenticated and the numbers from ABC are keenly watched by various media houses.
Eenadu daily, that has been in the top slot in 40 years, retained the numero uno position again. According to ABC calculations Eenadu circulation is 1,842,624 copies. Even though this is the highest number for any Telugu daily, Eenadu lost 20,000 copies compared to previous reporting period. Sakshi stood at 2nd place with circulation of 1,110,141 copies. But it improved circulation by 18,000 copies compared to previous reporting period. However, it had much better number couple of years back and it lost circulation drastically in last couple of years. But the latest ABC data showing Sakshi improving its numbers now is definitely good news for Sakshi. Andhra Jyothy is at 3rd place with circulation of 7,20, 473. It also improved circulation by 4,000 copies compared to previous reporting period.
Anyway, during the election year, the circulation of newspapers is expected to grow further but at the same time, as some new dailies are about to be started this year it may negatively impact the circulation of existing papers.
