Telangana Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy announced ‘Yadadri’ will be renamed as ‘Yadagirigutta’. He made this key decision, at the review meeting of Yadadri Temple Development Authority (YTDA) held on Friday in Yadadri. With this decision, Yadadri, once famous as Yadagirigutta, will be again called with the old name.
CM Revanth Reddy ordered officials to pass necessary orders to change name of Yadadri to Yadagirigutta. He directed them to replace ‘Yadadri’ with ‘Yadagirigutta’ name in all official documents, records and places.
Yadagirigutta, is one of the prominent pilgrimage places in Telugu states. It is a key temple town for Telangana state, as it is revered as a sacred location by devotees of Lord Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy. It attracts devotees from all over Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and neighboring states. The temple enjoyed patronage of governments and popularity not just after state bifurcation but even during undivided AP rule.
Taking the importance and popularity of Yadagirigutta even further, former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had developed it into a modern temple town by spending thousands of crores. In the process he had also renamed ‘Yadagirigutta’ as ‘Yadadri.’
While everyone had hailed KCR’s focus on developing Yadagirigutta, the change of name to Yadadri was debated. While some welcomed, some also expressed apprehensions. Now CM Revanth Reddy has brought back the old name of ‘Yadagirigutta’.
Revanth Reddy visited Yadagirigutta and sought blessings of Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy on the occasion of his 55th birthday. Later in the day he reviewed the development works of Yadagirigutta temple and surrounding areas, making several important decisions.
CM Revanth Reddy also decided to form Yadagirigutta Temple Board on the lines of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Board on the occasion. He ordered officials to come up with guidelines necessary for the formation of temple Board.
