You may have read about Mokshagna’s entry into Nandamuri Balakrishna’s prestigious project, ‘Gautamiputra Satakarni’, as an assistant director. This news caught everyone by surprise as Mokshagna was always supposed to make his entry as a hero and not as an assistant director.
Even now, Mokshagna’s career path is as a hero only. So why then was he brought in as an AD? We have learnt that Balakrishna was very keen about Mokshagna coming on to the sets for this movie. Doing historical films (Pouranikaalu) is a Nandamuri family legacy. In this day and age when such films are becoming quite rare to come by, Balakrishna reportedly wanted Mokshagna to get an exposure to the filmmaking process that goes on behind a periodical film.
Balakrishna also reportedly wanted Mokshagna to observe from close quarters the kind of histrionics required in a period drama. All of this will prove to be invaluable experience for Mokshagna as such a film may not materialise very soon in Balakrishna’s career again.
As an assistant director, Mokshagna will also be keenly observing the performance of various technical departments. This will enable him to get a feel for how the system works and Balakrishna hopes that all these things may make Mokshagna a good actor in future.
