At a time many opposition parties are resorting to protest accusing the Narendra Modi government’s failure in checking large queues at banks and ATMs even after more than five weeks of demonetization, now bank employees also joining the row. Bank employees are alleging that the RBI has been misguiding the public without giving true picture of money flow.
On one side, the RBI stating that there is sufficient cash flow, but banks and ATMs are seen empty, which is making people furious against bank employees. The All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) along with the All India Bank Officers Association (AIBOA) staged a protest outside Reserve Bank of India in Hyderabad, demanding that the RBI should provide adequate quantity cash to the banks to help the people who are facing cash crunch.
AIBEA national secretary Rambabu referring to RBI statement that it had supplied Rs 4.64 laksh crore from November 8 to December 13, wondered that there was no cash in the banks and the RBI was unable to state the real status on the cash.
Lamenting that the RBI is the main culprit as it is not supplying enough cash to the public sector banks as compared to private banks, he said that majority of people who have crores of rupees are having bank accounts with the new generation private banks only. As they are getting necessary cash one does not find queues in front of such banks, he said.
RBI Workers Union Chief Secretary G Jagdish demanded that whoever is doing manipulation of the notes should be punished. The RBI should also come out with details of how much cash it had supplied to each bank,” he added.
