After forgetting their prime responsibility of extending possible best services to their customers since last ten days of post-demonetization, banks today have decided to serve only their customers. However, an exemption was given for senior citizens and from Monday onwards they will continue to serve all for exchange of old notes.
Realising that all these days their own customers have suffered because they were prevented to continue their normal business operations, the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) has decided that banks should serve their respective customers today. So they will not exchange the old 500 and 1,000 rupee notes from customers of other banks. But, IBA Chairman Rajeev Rishi said that senior citizens can go to any bank branch to exchange the notes.
Expressing the hope very soon banks transactions will return to normalcy, Rishi said, after using indelible ink, queues have substantially been reduced. He also admitted that lot of pending work at branches especially for their existing customers.
