Hours after Women vented ire on Telangana Government by making bonfire of Bathukamma sarees, the TRS leadership took a very serious note of the incidents and ordered the officials to file non-bail able cases against the offenders.
Minister of IT&C K T Rama Rao lamented the opposition Congress for creating disturbances and lighting fire to the sarees. He alleged that the such protests happened only in the constituencies of the TPCC leaders. The Minister said that women do not burn saree but give it away to others if they do not like it.
Nizambad MP K Kavitha Rao responding to the protests, deplored the opposition for creating ruckus especially regarding the Bathukamma sarees which women consider it as a sentiment. She advised not to take the sarees if they do not like it and avoid politicizing things. She said that opposition party should stop stooping to such low-level.
Telangana government distributed 26lakh sarees to the women as a gift for the state festival Bathukamma. It may be noted that women at several places in the state protested regarding the poor-quality of sarees.
