BBC apologizes for the news on Shashi Kapoor
Veteran actor Shashi Kapoor, the romantic icon of the ’70s, passed away recently in Mumbai at the age of 79. The news of his death led to many tributes from celebrities and media houses. However, the British Broadcasting Corporation or the BBC’s tribute to Shashi Kapoor has left many fuming, as they played footage of Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor while covering this news.
BBC News at Ten has apologised after using clips of the wrong actor in a segment on the death of Shashi Kapoor. Taking to Twitter, the programme’s editor Paul Royall said the slip was not of the programme’s “usual standards”. He tweeted –
“#BBCNewsTen is very sorry wrong images were used to mark the death of Shashi Kapoor. ”
BBC added, “The piece did not meet its usual standards and the program has apologized for any upset.”
