AP Chandrababu Naidu has succeeded in meeting BSP leader Mayawati in Delhi. He also effectively convinced her to work with Congress and all other anti-BJP parties to oust Modi government in 2019. This came as a matter of great joy and jubilation for TDP leaders while Jana Sena Party is still not able to recover from the shock after the failure of Pawan Kalyan’s Lucknow visit. He was not given Mayawati’s interview.
The latest developments in Delhi have turned spotlight on national politics. They brought a new twist to national level alliances as Mayawati asked Naidu to take the lead to bring together anti-BJP parties to prepare for general elections. As regards present assembly elections in four states, Mayawati said it would not be possible for BSP to adjust with Congress because of differences with local politicians. The same stand will not be maintained in 2019 general elections when BSP will surely work with other parties to end the unjust and anti-people rule of Modi, Mayawati has told Naidu.
The change in Mayawati’s stand came as a blow to Pawan’s dream of forming an alliance with BSP in AP elections. His Lucknow visit was seen as a failure that resulted from his lack of political maturity and foresight. It is true that Jana Senani is hopeful of giving a strong fight to TDP with ‘Kapu-Dalit’ vote banks. Even if an alliance is made, it is not that easy to make this work in the field level. Moreover, working with national level ambitious leader like Mayawati is not an easy task for a novice like Pawan.
With regard to Chandrababu’s Delhi visit, the national scenario has now totally changed which is sending shivers down the spine of BJP leaders. Modi is now seeing a potential unity among Congress, BSP, Left, National Conference and other parties. Given the serious differences, TDP is not going to lie low. Chandrababu will use all his political acumen and knowledge acquired over four decades of his career to give a tough time to Modi and Amit Shah.
The political circles in Delhi are now talking about the meet between Chandrababu and Mayawati. After their meeting, Mayawati came out of her chambers and gave a warm send-off to Naidu by touching his head with her hand to give her blessings. This is the first time that Mayawati is seen giving such a gesture. Analysts say BSP leader is also serious about ousting Modi in 2019.
