Telangana government in yet another controversial move, reportedly cancelled the lease of the exhibition grounds. After Bison Polo grounds, TRS government is allegedly eyeing the Nampally grounds which hosts the All India Industrial Exhibition – Numaish in Hyderabad.
The event has been attracting visitors since its inception in 1930. The permanent venue of 24-acres hosts some small businesses and has been leased out until 2052 to the exhibition society headed by Finance Minister Etala Rajender.
Due to irregularities in the society, the lease was canceled abruptly. The lease was cancelled on the ground that the administrative staff did not heed to Minister’s warning on organizing clubs.
In 2015, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao made an announcement that the society will be given lifetime lease. In 2017, K Taraka Rama Rao said he will try to get the lease for 99 years. Now the TRS government abruptly cancelling the lease instead of punishing the administration department is raising several eyebrows.
