The BJP leadership in Andhra Pradesh started the fortnight-long celebrations marking the party’s formation day on April 7. The party would be holding events all over the state for the next 13 days from April 7 to 20.
The party is planning to rope in top leadership from Delhi, including some Central Ministers and those senior leaders from other states, including Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat, where the party is in power. Several MPs from both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are lined up for the events to be held in various districts these days.
BJP AP unit president Somu Veerraju who announced the party formation fortnight celebrations skipped a reply from the media persons on the party’s alliance in the next elections. Though the party is tied-up with the Jana Sena, the State leadership is not sure of continuing the alliance as Pawan Kalyan is reportedly looking towards the TDP.
However, Veerraju said that the BJP would have an alliance with the people. The party would have an alliance with the 1.35 crore white card holders who receive rice and other essentials through the fair price shops in the state. The BJP would have an alliance with the 1.35 lakh job card holders of the MNREGS programme in the state.
The BJP president also claimed that the party would have an alliance with the 30 lakh families that are going to get houses in the state. This would mean that the BJP leadership is aiming to reach out to the beneficiaries of various welfare schemes, which are being routed through the state government. They have already started a campaign that chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy is only changing the name of the schemes which are rolled out by the Central government.
While the BJP leadership in Delhi is trying to have a friendly relationship with the YSR Congress, the BJP local leaders are trying to corner him to strengthen the party base in the state. It is to be seen if they succeed in reaching out to the beneficiaries and win their votes in the next elections.
