Guntur police have arrested Borugadda Anil Kumar, a controversial political figure with alleged ties to the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). The arrest has sparked discussions about political intimidation and potential threats to opposition leaders.
Borugadda Anil , known for his inflammatory statements, reportedly claimed he would eliminate key opposition figures like Chandrababu Naidu, Nara Lokesh, and Pawan Kalyan within hours if given the “green signal” by YS Jagan Reddy. These threats, along with derogatory comments about the families of opposition leaders, have raised serious concerns about political violence in the region.
Despite numerous allegations of criminal activities over the past five years, including extortion and land grabbing, Borugadda Anil Kumar had avoided arrest until now. He allegedly used his claimed connection to the YSRCP leadership to carry out illegal activities in last 5 years with YS Jagan mohan Reddy blessings.
The arrest is from a 2021 case where Borugadda Anil Kumar allegedly threatened Karlapudi Prakash for money. After change in government, Anil Kumar went into hiding, reportedly staying in other states before quietly returning to Guntur.
Police acted on a tip-off, arresting him at his home where he had been staying discreetly while allegedly continuing his illegal operations. Authorities are now considering filing more serious charges, potentially related to conspiracy to assassinate prominent political figures.
