People generally have very low expectations on politicians. Time and again, we see politicians who plunge to ‘newer lows’.Here is an incident where Jithender Reddy, a member of parliament representing Telangana took an volte-face just in a matter of five days.
On July 3rd, Jithender speech in Chicago ATA (American Telugu Association) conference :
I want to give a message which our leader KCR had also stated earlier.Though we ( Andhra Pradesh and Telangana) are separated by boundaries, as people we all Telugus should live unitedly with harmony. I am seeing here in USA, Andhra and Telangana people unitedly have conducted this ATA event very successfully, I hope in future too we should continue this. As a Telugu Jaathi we should move forward together worldwide in all aspects. (Emphasis added)

Just after traveling 300 miles north, Mr. Jitender reddy revealed his other side.
On July 9th, Jithender in Detroit ATA ( American Telangana Association ) :
He ridiculed the accent of Andhra Pradesh people (He can praise the accent of Telangana ,he has every right to do so, but belittling Andhra at an international venue is below his stature). In addition, he had stated that he has not seen any Telangana culture at Chicago ATA meeting (which is incorrect – there were many telangana programs and artifacts at Chicago ATA convention as well). He went on saying all other organizations like NATA,ATA,TATA should merge to newly formed American Telangana Association – ATA.

One can go ON and ON about the brazenness of this MP but here are some facts:
- A number of Andhra people, who the MP pooh-poohed, donated to ATA (American Telangana Association) Detroit conference. A number of Andhra people also actively attended the conference and some of them volunteered as well. Such harmony exist among Telugu people here in USA
- This respected MP need to know that he doesn’t need to bring his divisive agenda overseas. As immigrants, Telugu people tend to help each other irrespective of caste, region etc and always stood together for bigger cause. Politicians like him who survive on divisive politics and changed multiple parties like a chameleon are trying to nurture hatred in the community
- ATA – American Telangana Association is a fledgling organization. MP Jithender Reddy made a joker of himself by asking all the other organizations to merge into ATA. While asking to work all Telugu organizations on a single platform is commendable, decreeing all the other organizations to merge into ATA is ludicrous
Telugu organizations also should refrain from inviting divisive politicians such as Jitender Reddy and allow him to spit venom in their own conferences, bringing disrepute to the organization.
