From the past few days, there are strong speculations across the circles of North India that top filmmaker Karan Johar is keen to sell off the stake in his production house Dharma Productions. Saregama India owned by the RP Sanjiv Goenka Group has been in talks to acquire the stake. The discussions are going on about the deal. The latest speculation says that Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani is now in talks to acquire the stake in Dharma Productions. Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) is in talks currently. The deal may not be happening soon as there are a lot of factors to be considered.
A series of meetings have to be conducted about the stake. Karan Johar has been working on multiple projects and he has to be given creative freedom from the partner who joins the big firm. For now, 90.7%of the stake is owned by Karan Johar and 9.24% by his mother Hiroo Johar in Dharma Productions. Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries Limited has a stake of 25 percent in Ektaa Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms. In the past, Gautam Adani was in talks to buy a stake in Dharma Productions but the deal was not finalized.
