After submitting their resignation to PM Modi, Cabinet Ministers Sujana Chowdary and Ashok Gajapathi Raju have addressed the media. At the time of writing, the PMO’s office is yet to confirm the acceptance of resignation.
In the press meet, both the ministers made it clear that they are going with the decision of the party president (Chandrababu Naidu). Ashok Gajapathi Raju said, ‘the PM received us pretty well and has extended his courtesy. As the Aviation Minister, I got a chance to serve the nation. Both the Centre and the State (AP) are working on the solutions. In the meantime, our party has directed us to resign from the government, and continue with NDA’.
Addressing the press, Sujana Chowdary said, ‘the PM made it clear that he is with the State of Andhra Pradesh, and will serve for the Telugu people. We need to ensure that, the commitments in the AP Reorganization Act 2014, and the promises made by then PM Manmohan Singh, on the floor of Parliament should be implemented.
I believe that, without being a member of the Council of Ministers, we will have more freedom to go and pursue the ongoing issues. The PM did say that it is unfortunate to see us quitting.’
