The campaign responsibility of prestigious Palair Assembly by-election has been given to Telangana IT minister KT Ramarao, who has become of late a veteran of electoral battles in the state.
In the recent past, TRS has won all the (by)elections held to Assembly, Lok Sabha and local bodies with thumping majority. And the elections fought under the leadership of KT Ramararao are unique in their results because the opposition parties had forfeited their deposit in these elections.
The GHMC elections victory was the testimony to the Ramarao’s poll management. In the GHMC election held in February , all the opposition parties bit the dust. According to party sources, convinced of talent of KT Ramarao, who emerged as the winning horse of TRS, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today appointed him as in-charge of Palair election as well.
This morning Ramarao had a long meeting with official nominee of TRS, Tummala Nageswar Rao, minister for R&B. TRS sources said KCR is attaching great importance to the win of the party in Palair for many reasons. Some of them are : 1. the winning streak of the party should not become temporary phenomenon, 2. TDP has strong base in Khamma district, where leaders like Nama Nageswsarao are present who can give tough fight for the TRS candidate, 3. a win for TDP has the potential to undo whatever achieved in the previous elections and 4. it would revive the ‘dying’ TDP in Telangana. So, keeping in view these objectives, KCR entrusted the responsibility of taking forward the winning trend with KTR.
After his meeting with Tummala, KTR admitted that Palair election was going to be an unusual one but he hastened to add that the result would also be unusual, which can be read both ways. ” The 21 months of KCR leadership and local influence of Tummala would make win cake walk for TRS. People have reposed enormous faith in KCR leadership. It will continue,” KTR said. In his view Khammam stood first in deriving benefits from Mission Kakatiya and Mission Bhagiratha. This has become evident in recent Municipal elections. First time, TRS captured council by winning 34 of the 50 divisions for which Tummla was responsible. As Palair is part of Khamman Municipality we expect the election trend to continue in Palair as well,” KTR said. What is clear from the TRS strategy is that for the first time the TDP is going to give real fight for TRS in Palair.
