Trivikram’s ‘A..Aa’ is gearing up for a release on June 2nd and all signs point to a promising film. But can the movie do well in a month that is traditionally unfavourable for films? Trade analysts have a name for the lackluster June season. It is called the school book syndrome.
Generally, schools re-open across all areas in June. New books, new uniforms, new school fee etc place huge economic demands on the average middle class household. As a result, budgets become tight and non essential income is put on hold. This means, a large chunk of middle class families will not be too interested in running to theaters in the month of June.
Interestingly, this is the same demographic subset that is a huge asset for Trivikram. His family friendly entertainers strike a chord with these audiences. So, will he be able to draw these families to theaters in June? Will ‘A…Aa’ be so good that it can offset tight family budgets?
Let us wait and see.
