Andhra Pradesh Congress today took strong objection to the state government’s spending about Rs 22 crore on foundation laying ceremony for the construction of Amaravati capital city, for which the Bhumi Puja, the ground breaking ceremony had already been performed. Party spokesperson and former MP N Tulasireddy said in a state where farmers and weavers were still to receive the input subsidy and other relief announced, spending so much money on the extravaganza of capital was objectionable.
“Where is the necessity to perform puja for capital for the second time spending so much taxpayer’s money” Reddy asked.
The government, according to Tulasi Reddy, had not given the bonds to farmer with regard to the loan waiver, there were no salaries for six months to the agencies working for Midday Meal scheme for students, bills of Midday Meal and rentals for the house were still unpaid.
“All these bills have been kept pending on the pretext there is no money. But, the government has money to spend to create unnecessary hype for capital city construction,” he said adding that TDP had not learnt any lesson from Greece financial crisis which was the result of the governmental extravaganza.
