The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has strongly argued in favour of treating all the 11 chargesheets as separate cases against AP CM Jaganmohan Reddy. As per the laws, it cannot be possible to consider Jagan Reddy’s plea for conducting a single, one-time hearing on these cases. The CBI officials are arguing before the CBI special court that though all these cases are pertaining to Quid Pro Quo charges, the accused persons and the companies involved are different.
Jagan Reddy’s petition came up for hearing before the court now. But the CBI officials are maintaining that there may be only one case against AP CM but the chargesheets are many. In all these chargesheets, Jagan Reddy is accused number one while Vijayasai Reddy is number two. Interestingly, this petition for combining all chargesheets as one is being argued before different courts for the last four years.
The CBI is saying that under CrPC section 212, different charges made against the accused in different circumstances should be treated as separate cases during hearing. In the fodder scam also, the cases against Lalu Prasad Yadav were not treated as one when they were heard in the courts.
