TDP President Nara Chandrababu Naidu has finally taken a back step regarding the 3rd Rajya Sabha seat. It is known that election process for the 3 Rajya Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh is underway. MPs Konidela Chiranjeevi, Renuka Chowdary and T Devender Goud will retire on 02nd April 2018 from Rajya Sabha, as their 6-year-term comes to an end.
Depending on the strength in AP Assembly, TDP gets 2 seats, while YSRCP gets on the seat. But AP CM and TDP President Chandrababu Naidu wanted to even claim the 3rd seat, by luring YSRCP MLAs. TDP needs the support of 2 YSRCP MLAs, in order to bag the 3rd seat, assuming that BJP MLAs (6) support them.
After discussing with key TDP leaders, Chandrababu has finally dropped the idea of TDP member contesting for the 3rd Rajya Sabha. According to sources, it is understood that, if Chandrababu tries to lure the YSRCP MLAs using ‘Operation Akarsh’, it could have a negative impact on party’s image.Similarly, it is difficult to have the support of BJP MLAs given the strained relationship between TDP and BJP.
In this context, the TDP leaders advised Chandrababu not to try for the 3rd Rajya Sabha seat.
