Talking to a media channel in an exclusive interview, commemorating his 40 years in politics, Chandrababu Naidu revealed the reason behind ignoring KCR, the current Telangana CM, for the State cabinet in 1999.
‘We cannot rewrite the history. We can only go through it. Not inducting KCR was a calculated mistake. It did not pay-off. The calculated mistake when we got carried away. We inducted Vijay Rama Rao in place of K Chandrasekhar Rao.
Vijay Rama Rao worked in the bureaucracy, and even as a CBI official. This kind of mistake happens when you go with the wind. There is no doubt about the capability of KCR. When it comes to politics, KCR is way ahead of Vijay Rama Rao. In fact, we pitched KCR against Ramchandra Rao. We both shared a great rapport,’ said the AP CM.
Further talking about how things later turned, Chandrababu Naidu opined that, if not for that one mistake of ignoring KCR in the 1999 State Cabinet, Andhra Pradesh (untied) would have been the most prosperous state in India.
