The old age, widow and handicapped pensioners have a lot to celebrate this Sankranthi festival. CM Chandrababu Naidu has announced a 100 per cent increase in their monthly pensions. This will be increased from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 2,000. In the past, the pension used to be just Rs. 200 but the TDP has increased it to Rs. 1,000 after it came to power in 2014.
The latest increase will be a big support to the thousands of pensioners across the state.
Naidu, during his current visit to Nellore district, said his latest gift will benefit over 50 lakh beneficiaries and this was in tune with his promise to serve the people like their elder son in every household. Just a few days ago, the Modi government has brought the 10 per cent reservation for economically backward families among upper castes. This is aimed at the middle classes people to support the BJP in the coming election.
As the general election is drawing near, the rival political parties are competing with one another to attract the voters. Especially, the ruling parties in the states and at the Centre are bringing in new programmes. With this latest gift, Naidu is also trying to make the TDP gain popularity as a pro-welfare party as well.
