What seemed like a week-long drama finally came to an end. With BJP and TDP running the script backdoor, the TDP MPs have played their part in the Parliament. Just as the Parliament was adjourned to March 5th, the Centre has come down and made some luring announcements.
Following are the key elements from the Centre:
- Centre accepts for the creation of Vishakhapatnam Railway Zone and will make a declaration very soon
- Centre and State agree to Special Package in place of Special Status
- No Dugarajapatnam port – Technical reasons. Another port along the coast will be sanctioned.
- Centre asks the state to put forth a formal proposal regarding its demands
- Centre to compensate for AP Revenue Deficit along the directives made by 14th Planning Commission
- Kadapa Steel Plant to come up in PPP (Public Private Partnership) Model
- Centre takes up the complete responsibility of Polavaram Project
- Sujana Chowdary prolonged discussions with Amit Shah, Arun Jaitley, and Piyush Goyal
- Centre to release pending funds to AP immediately
In the light of protests by AP MPs in the Parliament, the recent move from Centre comes as a relief. Only time will tell whether the recent announcements from Centre are a part of the strategic play by BJP and TDP.
