Central Government released Rs 1036 Cr for Andhra Pradesh and Rs 416.80 Cr for Telangana, towards flood relief assitance. As Telugu states were severely affected due to heavy rains and floods recently, Governments of both the states had sought assistance from PM Modi Sarkar for taking up relief measures.
Interministerial teams from Centre had visited the rain affected areas to assess the damage all over India. Central team led by Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan visited Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states in the first week of September.
AP CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Telangana CM Revanth Reddy had personally briefed Shivraj Singh Chouhan about the extent of damage and sought funds.
Finally after assessing the damage due to heavy rains and floods this monsoon season, Central government has released Rs 5858.60 Cr towards relief works in 14 states on Tuesday.
According to a press release from PIB, Home Ministry released Rs 1492 Cr for Maharashtra, the highest allocation among all states. The assistance for various states stood at Rs 1036 Cr for Andhra Pradesh, Rs 716 Cr for Assam, Rs 655.60 Cr for Bihar, Rs.600 crores for Gujarat, Rs 416.80 Cr for Telangana among others.
