The Jaganmohan Reddy government has taken objection to Union Minister RK Singh’s letter asking for continuation of PPAs in solar and wing energy sector. Jagan’s Principal Advisor Ajay Kallam Reddy described the BJP Union Minister’s statement as misleading propaganda. The Minister earlier said that Jagan’s decision will drive away future investments in both state and national level.
Kallam Reddy spoke to the media apparently to give a reply to Union Minister. It is well known RK Singh sent a strong letter asking CM Jaganmohan Reddy to change his decision to cancel PPAs. Strangely, Jagan has chosen not to give his reply considering the threat of enraging PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
In the place of AP CM, it is now his Principal Advisor who has explained why AP’s current leadership is going ahead with the review of Power Purchase Agreements. Kallam Reddy has given his reply in a very smart manner, saying that the Jagan Reddy government has made a commitment to root out corruption all aspects of governance which is why it is reviewing PPAs. It is because of this determination that AP is not able to go back on the issue of its previous decision.
Moreover, Kallam Reddy described Jagan’s decision as a very bold step in the direction of bringing in transparency and eliminating wastage of public money. The Principal Advisor has also clarified that presently far cheaper power is being made available when compared to the commitments already in PPAs. Kallam Reddy said that there is no problem of future investments as power companies are coming forward to supply power without any agreements.
