Ahead of the simultaneous elections, many TDP leaders are migrating to the opposition party YSRCP as they apparently see TDP as a sinking ship. It appears that they have sensed anti-incumbency against Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu due to the government’s failure in fulfilling the promises made by them in previous elections.
On the other hand, after the successful padayatra, opposition leader Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy of YSRCP has emerged stronger and with many influential leaders of TDP are jumping ships, the scales are tipping in his favour.
After 2004, this is the first time TDP is contesting without a pre-poll alliance. TDP didn’t gain any votes by aligning with Congress as Congress is still blamed for the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in 2014.
