Inspired by the Kanrataka developments after the Assembly elections, Telugu Desam Party president Chandrababu Naidu saw the possibilities of his party in Telangana playing the role of Janata Dal (Secular) in Karantaka, where the party had formed the government with BJP and Congress not having the numbers.
In an attempt to inspire his party ranks, where the leaders are quitting since bifurcation, Chandrababu Naidu predicted good days for the TDP in the two Telugu States and the national politics too. Be it in Gujarat or now in Karnataka, he claims that the Telugu-speaking voters are with him as they follow his call at the time of voting. The BJP which was poised to win the Karnataka elections had lost with a small margin only because of the TDP’s campaign there among the Telugu-speaking people against the Narendra Modi. He believes that the trend would continue with the Telugu-speaking people across the country would stand by him. In every state, there are small pockets where Telugu-speaking people are settled for years and the TDP chief now believes that they are with him emotionally.
In Hyderabad, which he claims to have built and developed, the TDP chief claims that the Telangana Rastra Samithi and the Congress would not get enough numbers to form the government after the 2019 elections. The ruling TRS would lose its majority while the opposition Congress would fail to get the majority, as it happened in Karnakata. In such a situation, he believes that the TDP with limited numbers would be forced to be backed by either of the parties to form the next government.
Having lost several leaders to the ruling TRS in the last four years in Telangana, Chandrababu Naidu is still dream of winning the State with his image in Andhra Pradesh and among the Telugu people across the globe. The party had lost popular leader like A Revanth Reddy to the Congress, while the senior most leader Mothkupalli Narasimhulu, is set to be lost to the TRS in a day or two. Still, Chandrababu Naidu claims victory to the TDP in Telagana.
This confidence comes to the TDP chief after his meeting with the Congress president Rahul Gandhi in Bengaluru where the Congress had backed the Karnataka’s regional party, JD(SP) to form the government despite not having the numbers. Perhaps he is confident of having the same arrangement in Telagana with the Congress, falling short of the majority, will back the TDP to form the government to keep off the TRS from coming back to power. Will this dream come true is a big question that the time will answer.
