On the opening day of Assembly budget session, Opposition leader Chandrababu Naidu made an open attack on CM Jaganmohan Reddy on the issue of Telangana’s Kaleswaram irrigation project. Naidu cautioned Jagan against making hasty, inexperienced decisions with regard to inter-state projects. For that matter, unilateral decisions being taken on Kaleswaram would be more harmful to the long-term interests of Andhra.
Naidu told the Assembly that he is tolerating all cheap insults being hurled by the ruling party leaders and CM just because the TDP would continue its fight for the overall interests of Andhra people. Naidu made a classic dialogue. He said that Jaganmohan Reddy’s age would not be equal to his political experience.
Jagan has been saying that unlike the previous Naidu government, the present YCP government has brought new harmony with Telangana to go forward with interlinking of Krishna-Godavari rivers. Naidu raised doubts and asked what would happen to Andhra if there are differences of opinion in future. He further said that such decisions like Kaleswaram would appear good only as long as there are cordial relations. On his part, Jagan said that Telangana would complete Kaleswaram whether he went there as Chief Guest or not. He took objection to Naidu’s statements on his government’s actions.
